I joined the workshop of „unleash the performer in you“ with Ingrid and spent an unforgettable time with her! She coached us with so much patience and taught us very useful tips on how to improve our stage presence and vocal skills. I will never forget this experience and I am forever grateful for the memory of singing in the famous A-Trane club in front of so many people. What an amazing finale to this beautiful week! I definitely recommend this experience to anyone who wants to step outside of their comfort zone. I gained a lot of confidence and also new friends along the way. Thank you Ingrid!
It was an unforgettable experience that has completely transformed the way I see myself as a performer. I went in thinking it was just about singing, but I quickly learned that being a great singer requires so much more than having a good voice—and Ingrid brought that out of me in ways I never imagined.
Every single day of the workshop felt like a new layer of wisdom being uncovered. From mastering stage presence to understanding how to connect emotionally with my audience, I walked away with tools and insights that I will carry with me for a lifetime. For instance, Ingrid helped me realize how my body language could elevate or diminish the impact of my performance. She taught me how to command a room with confidence.
Another highlight for me was discovering the importance of storytelling through music. Ingrid guided us to tap into the deeper emotions behind the lyrics, teaching us how to make each song our own. It wasn’t just about technique—it was about authenticity, and I can honestly say I’ve never felt more genuine in my performances.
What I appreciated most was Ingrid’s ability to create a supportive and inspiring environment. She pushed us to grow without ever making us feel overwhelmed. I left the workshop feeling not only like a better singer but like a true artist.
This workshop is not about big speeches. Instead of giving countless suggestions which might disencourage students at some point Ingrid Arthur allows them to experience several stages of musical progress by providing options. Potential participants who think that they only learn during the workshop and therefore don’t need to prepare for the next sessions should reconsider their approach as a lot of the workshop is about preparation and evaluation. Starting off by presending song suggestions, participants are basically in charge even before the workshop starts to ask themselves if their song is a fit for them.
The workshop itself contains a vocal warm up, a song dissection as well as performative coaching aspects. As stated before Ingrid Arthur chooses the method of providing options by hinting the potential of each presented exercise. Seemingly simple tasks such as reading out the lyrics in front of the other participants therefore can be understood and attempted in various degrees of difficulty. Based on previous knowledge one participant might “only” read out the lyrics while maintaining eye contact while others are able to act the lyrics on a professional level and incorporate reactions of the audience to create an immersive experience. This approach makes it easy to create an engaging environment and allows each participant to learn not only during playing the active part as the presenter of a task but by observing others throughout their struggles, development and achievements.
Overall the workshop is a good starting point to create awareness of the diverse facets of the performative stage craft as long as you are willing to reflect, prepare and set yourself individual and realistic goals to achieve throughout the workshop.
